Dr. S. Vengurlekar is a Board Certified Interventional Pain Specialist who specializes in the interventional treatment of pain disorders. He is passionate about providing relief from pain and suffering to his patients. As more and more people become addicted to painkillers, this epidemic of people who are truly in excruciating pain is becoming an epidemic. When they take these drugs though, they are not treating the source of the pain – they are merely masking its effects. It is Dr. Vengurlekar’s philosophy to treat the root of the actual problem, not just the symptoms.

Dr. Vengurlekar has had extensive experience in performing minimally invasive procedures in Scottsdale and other suburbs of Phoenix for the last several years. His practice has been exclusively devoted to the treatment of a broad spectrum of pain disorders. He is the Top Premier Pain Specialist in the South West and has been featured on The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo Finance and several other top news outlets.

From as young as 4 years old, Dr Vengurlekar was ambitious about becoming a surgeon. Dr. Vengurlekar is a proud graduate of St. John’s Medical College located in Bangalore, India, which is internationally recognized as one of the premier medical schools in the world. He entered medical school at the age of 16 and graduated after completing a year of residency in surgery, medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, orthopedics, and pediatrics.

Throughout his earlier schooling, and in High School and Medical School, Dr. Vengurlekar topped his class, remained on the Dean’s List and won honors and prizes in various specialties in both the University and other competitive exams.

He then completed a surgical residency and became a Board Certified surgeon. He was an instructor in general surgery in Jawaharalal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, a referral and major medical and teaching center in Pondicherry, India.

Dr Vengurlekar completed a year of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery training at Sinai Hospital located in Detroit, Michigan. Following that specialty training, he trained at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital affiliated with Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York. During his training, a tragic event occurred with one of the patients in pain and he was deeply moved by the pain and suffering of that patient.

From that prolific experience, he made a commitment to go into the challenging field of treating and helping patients in pain and who are suffering. He completed training in anesthesiology, pain, critical care, and cardiac anesthesia at Loyola University Medical Center of Chicago, Illinois. During his extensive training and residencies in multiple specialties, Dr. Vengurlekar also gained tremendous experience as an ER Physician in both Illinois and Indiana.

Dr. Vengurlekar is Board Certified in surgery (India), anesthesiology, and also has added subspecialty certification in pain management. Dr. Vengurlekar regularly attends conferences and courses to constantly evaluate cutting-edge technologies and procedures that he can apply to help his patients in their quest for pain relief.

Dr. Vengurlekar has been instrumental in educating the medical and paramedical community at large in the Greater Phoenix Area through his numerous presentations and lectures. He serves on the committees of pain management at the local hospitals. Dr. Vengurlekar comes from a varied cultural background. He speaks seven languages, and he has been educated in a Jewish school, a Catholic School, and a Catholic Medical school. His patient population is comprised of individuals from all walks of life, races and religions. Dr. Vengurlekar believes in providing the highest level of care to all of his patients without distinction or discrimination.

Dr. Vengurlekar urges patients to come to see him sooner, rather than later. He maintains that going to chiropractors and other physicians simply masks the issue and does not correct it at its roots. He shares that pathology diagnosis are not hit-and-miss, there are an exact science.
